Do you SEE what I SEE

We're still celebrating all things CLEAR at Jingle Belles this week.

Here is our second round of creations:

Lauren's Other Card

Lauren says, "One of my favorite tricks for adding custom elements to cards is to print an oversized sentiment on a transparency sheet made for inkjet printers. Sometimes I'll add digital brushes or other elements, to incorporate the sentiment in a frame or collage; sometimes I just print the words on their own. This card is an example of the latter technique: "Joy to the World" is rendered in a font called 'Porcelain' (which was free from dafont.com) and then layered over a pretty scrap of paper and loaded up with florals, festive greens and some pretty Eyelet Outlet pearl embellies. I've used the sketch half of the current Fusion Card Challenge challenge to guide my layout."

Stephanie's Other Card

Stephanie says, "I love the look and texture of embossed acetate.  With this all-over snowflake pattern, it almost made the acetate seem sparkly, so I made it sparkly by mounting on a teal glitter card base.  Another trick with the all-over snowflakes is that it makes it very each to hide tiny glue dots in the centers of the snowflakes to adhere the two layers together.  Doesn't that penguin look like he's having a fabulous time in all that snow?"

It Came Upon a Midnight... CLEAR

It Came Upon a Midnight CLEAR - that means we're using at least one see-through element on our cards.  

It might be glass, a transparency, some vellum, acetate or "ghost" shapes, clear stickers, Lucite buttons, shrink plastic... whatever you like... if you can see through it (& figure out how to attach it!) put it on there and link it up!

Stephanie's Card

Stephanie says, "I started with this *WONDERFUL* acetate sentiment from Amy Tangerine and turned it into a holiday card using Essentials by Ellen Basic Alpha Stamps.  I employed two clever ways to attach my acetate to the paper ... Eyelet Outlet Santa & Friends Washi Tape on the top & bottom and two Poinsettia Brads on the side (therefore no tape or glue dots to show).

Lauren's Card

Lauren says, "I LOVE making cards on a transparency base! That is, I love it right up to the time I have to photograph them... and then I stop loving it, a bit abruptly, lol. But hopefully you can still see what I've done here? I used one of my few precious Hambly holiday transparency sheets. (Thank you, dear Stephanie, for having found those after Hambly went out of business!) I've also followed the current Sketch Saturday layout and had a fun time deciding which elements of the sketch should be placed on the outside of the card (the snowflake/poinsettia stack, plus the Bling Swirl and Glitter Winter Washi from Eyelet Outlet) and which on the inside (a cardstock mat from Kaisercrafts's Silver Bells line)."

Snow Far, Snow Good

Having been blown away by the *BLIZZARD* of creativity our lovely fellow ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ have let loose this fortnight for "Let the Flakes Fall Where They May" we had a really hard time choosing just a few cards to feature; but here are three snow-centric beauties that especially melted our hearts:

Jane Willis of Onions and Paper

...found sparkly snowflake stickers, super-fun snowflake tags and beautiful snowflake ribbon, which all add up to a card that's fabulously flake-y!

Lola of Little Card Maker

...combined a very handsome snow man stamp with a gorgeous paint chip and some super-skinny black mats that make the whole thing pop!

Helen of Helen's Craft Haven

...watercolored and stamped the prettiest snowscape imaginable; no wonder it's inhabited by irresistibly cute critters!

Leslie's Other Card

Leslie says, "My mid-challenge project is clean and simple - a technique I love but don't delve into very often. I couldn't resist this time because I had the perfect stamp to match that paper scrap. Yep, the scrap was the bottom part of a 12 x 12 sheet. Love, love, love how this simple card turned out! Please see my blog post at Love To Scrap 2 for more details and photos. Stephanie's Other Card

Stephanie says, "I pulled out my favorite vintage snowflake stamp from Hero Arts and had some Color Burst resist fun this week.  With the addition of some punched silver glitter snowflakes I used this week's Feeling Sketchy Layout."

Lauren says, "Yes, my card is a quite bit more traditional this week, lol! Mostly thanks to the beautiful vintage postcard which I scanned and re-sized just a bit smaller, before printing out on semi-glossy photo paper. I've used this week's sketch saturday layout as my road map, and employed a gorgeous Eyelet Outlet Cardinal Brad to watch over the snowy scene as a sort of mascot!"

Let the Flakes Fall Where They May

We've got a brand new prompt at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ this week, suggested by our lovely guest star, Leslie Turner, who is the owner and hostess of the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and the Love To Craft Challenge Blog as well as a design team member at House of Cards and Let's Craft and Create! We were thrilled when this very busy lady wrote in and suggested such a cool (sorry, for once the pun was unintentional!) challenge idea, so let's let her say hello and explain this fortnight's theme:

 Hi everyone! I'm Leslie and super stoked to be guesting for Jingle Belles this fortnight. My theme is Let The Flakes Fall Where They May and my challenge to all you Christmas crafters is to create a project that includes snow... snowflakes, snowmen or a snowy landscape! I chose this theme because of very wishful thinking. This winter we've had to run the air conditioning several times here in north Florida! That's not what I'd call winter, lol! 

Here at Jingle Belles, we kind of prefer our snow on holiday cards rather than our local roads, and are just slightly jealous of a "winter" that needs air conditioning; but we're thrilled that Leslie is joining us, and she's made an amazing card, so let's get right to that: 

Leslie's Card

Leslie says, "My opening project is a twisted gate fold. I am a fancy fold fanatic and when I found this fold on the web, I just HAD to make one! I absolutely love the super easy construction that packs a powerful punch, and using the cool snowflake papers and snowflake sequins was an added bonus! Lauren's Card

Lauren says, "I went with the traditional snow colors of Merlot and Copper. obviously. :) Ok, so, it's not a traditional card in any sense of the word. But i found two funky panels leftover from experiments involving Color Burst pigment powder, stencils, gesso and Dreamweaver's luscious copper embossing paste, and one of my crazier card ideas was born. I even think I already know to whom I will send this card, so I feel especially prepared and "ahead" of the Xmas rush this week!"

Stephanie says, "I started with an embossed piece of acetate that reminded me of the way the ice breaks when you step on a frozen puddle.  After that I layered on the snowflakes ... clear stickers and lots of layered felt snowflakes topped with icy blue Eyelet Outlet Round Jewels."
