The Write Stuff

It turns out there is no *bad* way to get texty at the holidays... which made it extra hard for us to just choose a few type-centric cards to feature. We highly recommend a scroll through the readers' gallery to see all the gorgeous cards. Meanwhile here are a couple of faves:

...capitalized on the envelope-like shape of a recent card sketch, by adding text paper, embossing and the sweet stocking to her clever card!

...strategically cut her text paper to make the perfect window for those beautifully glittery trees and super-fun baking paper snow!

...proves that CAS cards can be loaded with texture and interest, by virtue of embossing, tiny gems, and the most elegant sentiment ever!

We'll be back at midnight with a brand new prompt we hope won't have you looking for an Escape Claus! ;)

My Santa Baby Wrote Me a Letter

We're still celebrating the joys of text and typography and you still have time to join in, which we hope you will! Scroll down to the original post to link your word-centric masterpieces. Meanwhile, here's what we made this week:

Lauren says, "I've combined one of my all-time favorite texty patterned papers (from Carta Bella, last year, I believe); a Simple Stories sentiment card and lots of fabulous Eyelet Outlet Pinecone, Poinsettia and Holly Brads. Luckily I had this week's Sketch Saturday blueprint (#565), so i knew *exactly* where everything should go!"

Stephanie says, "This week I had to ink up this new Texty Block Party Christmas Stamp from Uniko ... so many fun Christmas Phrases in my new Catherine Pooler Rouge Ink on Kraft.  I added some texty designer paper to finish the design and a gem on the top of the Santa Gnome's Hat."

Text Me

This fortnigh at Jingle Belles, we're asking you to create a Holiday card that celebrates TEXT. You could use letter stickers, book pages, dictionary pages, texty patterned paper or just create a card where the sentiment is the star of the show ... just make sure you get TEXTY.

Here's what we made this week:

Stephanie says, "I decided to go searching through my vast designer paper collection for text ... and I found it in Shimelle's American Crafts Christmas Magic Collection.  I went searching for one of the characters in the 12 Days of Christmas for my focal image ... but finally decided if the song were written today, surely there would be a Penguin (and his tiny snowman friend).  My inspiration and sketch came from the Fusion Card Challenge and stamps are from Essentials by Ellen Arctic Pals & Ugly Sweater Accessories stamped on the EBE Aline Snowfall Die Cut ."

Lauren says, "I used an old set of oversized chipboard alphas as a template to cut the letters "J-O-Y" out of some Prima "Spring Farmhouse" paper with a little bit of text detail. I added in some florals, lace and a chipboard sentiment, then piled the whole thing on top of some pretty plaid from the "Sweet Peppermint" collection."

And ... drum roll ... the winner of the prize package from our Old Fashioned Christmas Prompt is:

Rose from My Happy Place ... e-mail us your contact info, so we can get your prize on its way.

Link your texty masterpieces here by 6pm (EST) on Wednesday, June 5th. Keyword for galleries and Flickr is JB:19:11.
