for the rest of 2011, jingle belles will debut a new christmas card prompt each friday morning; but the symbolism of starting our project on the first day of a new month, of a new year, just seemed too wonderful to resist! (plus, we're so excited, we couldn't wait another six days to get going!)
so without further ado, the prompt for CARD ONE is:
make a holiday card using one of your favorite old products and one of the cool new things you've just been given for christmas and cannot wait to tear into ...OR... recycle one of the holiday cards you received in 2010 by combining it with something new you've been hoarding (yeah, we all do that) ...OR... combine vintage found items with a funky modern style! ...OR... well, go any direction you like, but combine OLD AND NEW in an interesting way on a holiday card!
here's what we did:
for old i've got a poem and illustration from a vintage "ideals" magazine, plus a bit of vintage sheet music; for new i have some fancy recollections' christmas tree stickers, a super-cool fabric brad, and some of my very favorite may arts leaf ribbon--of which my darling stef gave me AN ENTIRE ROLL for christmas!!! everything else is of medium age from my stash: prima poinsettias & holly, doodlebug brads, oriental trading bling snowflakes, and patterned paper strips i have edge-punched into submission!
and now it's time to show us what you can do for CARD ONE: something old, something new. link up here by 6pm EST on wednesday, jan 5th (use keyword JB01 if you upload to our Flickr Gallery or any other on-line gallery) and then tune in next friday, jan 7th for another prompt.
remember there's a bit of a prize pack up for grabs this month: each comment you leave us during the month of january gets you ONE chance in the random draw; each new card you make and link up, snags you TWO additional chances! you can read the details HERE!
What a great idea. Looking forward to your prompts and completing some Christmas cards for next year.

ReplyDeleteKatheD - just upload it to the FlickR gallery & we'll check it out there.

I didn't get all my cards out on time....even though I started them in November.
Now I know I won't be able to play every week but I'll double up when I can.
Hmmm...Christmas AFTER Christmas?! AND all year? Umm...not sure I can hang. Will do my darndest to whip up a little sumthin'-sumthin' that doesn't suck and go from there. Not making any promises. ;)

This is turning out to be fun already, I'm going to enjoy playing and I love visiting the other participant's blogs - so much inspiration!
ReplyDeleteJust found you. This is going to be fun. Love all the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks, SmilynStef, it looks like that worked :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun, I think I'll try again. Kind of felt like I cheated just a little by covering the inside of a returned card, but my Grandma always told me "Waste not, want not".
Just stumbled onto this blog and it is just what I need! Only sent out 10 cards and had so many more to do. I'm in and will be back soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks gals! I played and got it in on time! Great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to join in on this challenge - never done anything quite like this before. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thanks for providing some much needed inspiration: http://scrpbooklady.blogspot.com/2011/01/big-thanks.html
ReplyDeleteI hope it's ok to post another card. It is more fun to make a card than it is to clean up scraps.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that it seems I'm too late to link my card. Having started my own Christmas challenge blog on New Year's day I wanted to support yours too - my card is here x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.... I have enough Christmas stuff to last me all year anyway, so I may as well get a head start for next Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDeniseB
