Cardstock Creations

So many creative cards without even a glimmer of patterned paper in sight? That's what we call impressive. Here are a few especially clever takes on this challenging assignment:

Rosi of Let's Take Time and Stamp with Daen'Ys

...has a card full of adorable holiday sea creatures asking, "Who Needs Snow?"; and when you can stamp and color such a gorgeous scene, we'd ask, "Who needs patterned paper?" either!

Karen of Snippets... Small Pieces of Time in My Day to Create

...explains the simple but incredibly clever trick she used to make this strikingly colorful inked background; now we've GOT TO try it!

Helen of Helen's Craft Haven

...made a whole family of simple, adorable, diecut critters and then let them be the stars of her perfectly CAS cards. We want to adopt ALL of these guys, but the reindeer miiiiight be our fave!

The 12 Days of Cardstock

Yes, we're still banning you from Designer Paper for one more week ... break out that rainbow of cardstock colors and share your creations.

Here's what we made:

Lauren's Other Card

Lauren says, "I've played strictly by the rules, for once in my life, lol! I stamped a background of Avery Elle Snowflakes on dark blue cardstock and one of the sentiments from the same set, using Hero Arts' awesome Unicorn Ink and my MISTI for extra-good coverage. The rest is torn cardstock and ancient dies. Ok, technically the reindeer was cut from AlteNew's beautiful wood veneer, rather than cardstock, but it's not patterned paper!!! I finished off with some Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling and a few loose gems and pearls."

Stephanie's Card

Stephanie says, "I made an ornament with the new Birch Press Ornament Basics Craft Die and two pieces of watercolor paper backgrounds that I had colored with Karin Markers.  The Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling is the star of the show.  I used Eyelet Outlet Silver Glitter Washi Tape to frame my sentiment and mounted it all on a piece of colored cardstock that I had brayered with acrylic paints during Art Camp 2019 (which seems like a lifetime ago).  Sentiment is from Memory Box Dashing with Reindeer."

Cardstock Christmas

Today we're asking you to step away from the designer paper. Yes, put it away … none allowed … not even a scrap! Because the next prompt is to create a card using only cardstock. You can tear it, ink it, stamp it, spray it, emboss it … but stick to only cardstock for your holiday card design.

Here's how we created with cardstock:

Stephanie's Card

Stephanie says, "Nothing goes better with cardstock than Die Cuts ... I used three different Memory Box Die Cuts to create my wintry scene (Vintage Sled, Tall Pine & Marvelous Pine). I tore some white cardstock for my wintry landscape and die cut the Tall Pine a second time from green cardstock for the pine boughs on my sled. The sentiment is from Memory Box Dashing with Reindeer."

Lauren's Card



Lauren says, "In the spirit of full disclosure, this card is a pretty direct lift from this sample made for the sweet Winter Narwhal stamp from Lawn Fawn. The star, the pink oxide background, the vellum are all pretty much a CASE. But since I wanted to make a full-size A2 card, I cut a bunch of the star frames and layered them to make a shaker (filled with Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Sequins) and I embossed a pink cardstock background."
