Pinstripes & Super Novas

We are still celebrating holiday cards that feature stars or stripes or both and you still have time to join the fun, which we hope you will! Meanwhile, here's what we made this week:

Stephanie says, "Every year I manage to make at least one card and when I'm finished I say *Who on earth am I going to send that one too?* ... I combined some patriotic designer paper (combining both Stars & Stripes) with Lawn Fawn's Winter Unicorn ( for some reason, the lighting made my white iridescent sequins look pink in the photo)"

(I think you'll find, Miss Stephanie, that the answer to your question is *Lauren* lol!!!!!!) :) :) :)

Lauren says, "I made as cute a card as was humanly possible without a unicorn, having discovered a couple of Basic Grey dimensional felt stickers that i *think* may have been brought to this country on The Mayflower, lol. Ok, maybe they are not quite as old as that, but they're pretty old. They're still flippin' adorable though, imo, and thanks to an awesome sketch (PP350) from the Paper Players i knew exactly how to use them!"

STARS and/or STRIPES

It's time for a brand new theme, and since this fortnight encompasses July 4th, we thought we'd give a nod to the holiday and ask to see cards which feature stars, or stripes, or both! Here's what we made this week:

Stephanie says, "I love these bold green stripes with the texty journaling card.  I added a wrap of regal red ribbon using this week's Sketch Saturday Layout.  I finished with white matte enamel dots & a Santa Hat Brad from Eyelet Outlet."

Lauren says, "I was tempted to go all out "4th of july meets xmas"... (and i still might do that, next week!) ...but what changed my mind was this amazingly lovely new Eyelet Outlet Star Washi that I've been dying to use on a card! Since the watercolory stars on the tape are gorgeous shades of blue and purple, that helped me narrow down my paper choices. I chose two that are not especially Christmassy, but I love how they look together and this is the PERFECT card for my friend Kate, who celebrates the Solstice each December."

Layers of Love

We loved seeing how you rocked the layers for our All Bundled-Up prompt ... so much holiday fun.

Here are a few layered creations we loved.

rocked the art of vintage layering with perfect distressing, inking and floral elements to complete her layered masterpiece.

repeated the nutcracker theme with her fantastic layered design ... and she rocked the metallic sentiment and big bold mustache.

used the decoupage technique to add her layers (and add fantastic dimension to her sweet winter scene) ... love that paw print frame.

So come back at midnight and see what the wild & wacky Jingle Belles have in store for next week.

Layered Holiday

We're still creating with layers this week at Jingle Belles (3 or more layers to be exact).

Here are this week's *all bundled-up* creations.

Lauren says, "I've been wanting to make a card featuring some adorable Eyelet Outlet Cookie Brads, and when I saw the current Atlantic Hearts sketch (#216), the little circle element just screamed, "plate of cookies!!!" to me. A Jenni Bowlin Holiday Bingo card seemed perfect for the large rectangle in the sketch and a cute journaling card is the perfect size and shape to hold the adorable Doodlebug Santa! (And yes... apparently Santa is making cookies for US this year, lol!)"

Stephanie says, "This week's card collection (click through to my blog to see three more layered creations) is courtesy of Die Cut With a View's Cranberry Christmas.  I love when a collection has everything I need to pull a card together."

So get out your favorite papers and link-up your layers by Wednesday, June 21st at 6pm EST.

All Bundled-Up

We're All Bundled-Up at Jingle Belles this week ... which means, we're making cards with lots of layers (make sure you have at least three).  So pull out your favorite papers (solids, stripes, patterns ... whatever you love) and layer them up.

Stephanie says, "I find one of the easiest ways to make lots of layers work is to use papers from the same collection ... in this case, My Mind's Eye Christmas on Market Street (with a bit of minty vintage Basic Grey thrown in for good measure).  The metallic vellum is a great way to add another layer, but still let the pretty patterns shine through ... six layers for me this week using this week's Sketch Saturday Layout (click through to my blog to see three additional layered creations."

Lauren says, "A familiar look from me --torn layers of paper-- but, this time instead of vintage, I've got ordinary store-bought patterned papers, in neutral tones, so that the colors of my (scanned and slightly scaled down) vintage postcard would really pop. I used the current --and alas, final-- Mojo Monday sketch, though in the end, despite test-driving a number of pretty ingredients for the role of the cool vertical strips, my card wound up feeling finished without them. Meanwhile I'm sure you join me in sending a heartfelt, "farewell and thank you" to Julee Tilman for her 500 amazing sketches over the course of nearly ten years!"

So get out your papers and layer-up with us this week. Link-up by Wednesday, June 21st at 6pm (EST). Keyword for galleries for our Flickr Gallery is JB:17:12

HOLE-y Moly!

There are some really wonderful things to see when you're looking out of... or into... some beautiful Christmas windows! Here are a few that made us especially happy:

...used a non traditional color palette of orange, brown and olive, to make that adorable teddy bear button stand out beautifully!

...chose an entirely unexpected stamp to feature in her over-sized window card, which makes us wonder, "WHY didn't WE think of that"??!?!

...showed us that you don't need many ingredients at all, as long as they are EXACTLY the right ones!!!

Many thanks to all who played along! We'll return at midnight with a brand new challenge that we hope will make you consider bringing back the layered look! ♥

Chestnuts Roasting on an OPEN Fire

Yep, we're still creating cards with OPEN-ings ...and bad puns. (You're welcome!!!) :) :) :)

Stephanie says, "I took a page form Lauren's playbook this week and used three different sizes of Spellbinder die cuts to create my opening, a frame, and the smallest on the inside of the card.  The cute little Gingerbread Man and sentiment are from Stampin' Up's Cookie Cutter Set with Coordinating Punch."

Lauren says, "This week I've done something I rarely do: used the same ingredients, two cards in a row. But about 15 seconds after I attached the diecut holly leaves adorning the window on last week's card, it ocurred to me that i could have used the holly dies to cut the window in the card! So I did that this time and I think it looks really cool! I popped the music paper layer up on little dots of foam tape, so that there'd be a little space between the top and bottom layers. I also used the darkest green paper I had, for maximum contrast!"

There's still plenty of time for you to wow us with your wonderful windows... scroll down to the original post for all the details!
