Paper-crafting Christmas

We're continuing with making cards that include NO STAMPING ... let's see all of the ways you can make paper, stickers, and diecuts shine.

Here's how we created with papers this week:

Lauren says, "This card has four different patterned papers (including TWO red and green plaids!) as well as a journal card that I diecut into an oval and matted to give it a little more visual weight. I'd love to take credit for the dynamic placement of elements, but in fact, I used an ancient (circa 2012, I think!) but very inspiring layout from the late great Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge which I stumbled upon on Pinterest and immediately thought, "AHA!"

Stephanie says, "I love buying 12" pieces of scrapbooking paper that are made-up of twelve journaling cards.  I trim them down & keep them in a stack for quick & easy paper-crafting cardmaking.  This one is 3x4 Elements from Simple Stories Mix & A-Mingle.  I love the unexpected colors for a Christmas card.  I paired it with a piece of designer paper in similar colors, a snowflake button with gold cord, cardstock flags, and a few glittery enamel dots using the layout #242 from Sketch~N~Scrap."

No Stamping Christmas

Instead of a Hard Candy Christmas, we're having a No Stamping Christmas this week at Jingle Belles.  That means it's time to break out your designer papers, stickers, Cricut cuts, embossing folders and embellishments ... show us what you can do without your stamps.

Here's how we created with NO Stamping this week:

Stephanie says, "I started with one of my gel press prints that used the color palette from the Christmas Kickstart Challenge and die cut it with Penny Black Merry Christmas & the ornaments from Penny Black Ornaments Kit.  I die cut the ornament tops & the ornament string from the inside of a box of Kleenex with cooling lotion (great silver cardstock inside).  I attached it all to a piece of snowflake designer paper from Lawn Fawn Let it Shine Snowflakes paper for the Penny Black Saturday patterned paper Challenge."

Lauren says, "I absolutely love diecuts, so they're the basis of my card this week. I've used Memory Box's Serene Bird and Branch die set as well as Penny Black's Peaceful Pines plus a few papers from Photoplay's 2022 It's a Wonderful Christmas line, all of which came from my favorite papercrafting store, Paper Anthology. As a matter of fact, this card is doing double duty, as it's also the official sample for the May Edition of Paper Anthology’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit, Peaceful Dove, which you can read all about on my personal blog and on the Paper Anthology website."

Tic-Tac-Totally Awesome

Holiday Tic-Tac-Toe cards combine crafty supplies we might not have otherwise thought to put together... which sometimes leads to cards we might not have otherwise made. Which is pretty cool, right?! Here are three clever Tic-Tac-Toe cards that especially caught our eye this fortnight:

...made TWO gorgeous cards using different combinations from the board. This one features the diagonal combination of Glitter + Silver + Diecuts and could not be more charming!

...combined the center column of Snowflakes + Silver + Stamping to create this amazingly beautiful stamped collage we cannot stop drooling over!

...chose the bottom row featuring Diecuts + Stamping + Santa, then used a delightful pastel color palette on her adorable images!
(Who knew Santa would look so awesome in pink?!

Many thanks to everyone who played along, we loved seeing every single one of your beautiful and creative cards! We'll be back at Midnight with a brand new challenge we hope will receive your stamp of approval!

Tree Skirt Tic-Tac-Toe

It's another week of game-playing shenanigans here at Jingle Belles with our second round of Holiday Tic-Tac-Toe.

Here's how we played the game this week:

Lauren says, "This week I chose the left-hand column, which gave me DESIGNER PAPER + XMAS TREE + DIECUT OR PUNCH. Since, technically speaking, I fulfilled all of those with my cluster of punched patterned paper trees; I decided to grab the middle column, as well, for which I added SNOWFLAKES (Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Brads) + SILVER (two retired EO Washi varieties... silver metallic and silver glitter) + STAMPING (paperpieced Lawn Fawn Yeti & sentiment). Once again the gang at Sketch Saturday provided the perfect sketch (#725) to get me going, for which I thank them!"

Stephanie says, "I went vertical down the right side with glitter, ribbon & Santa.  I started with a Santa panel cut from designer paper and framed in red & green.  Next came silver vellum cut with the PinkFresh Rounded & Braided Rectangle Die Cut.  I added a wrap of red ribbon around the front of the card after layering it on green glitter paper (yay, I can still tie a mean bow).  I finished with some bits of green bling to accent Santa."

Holiday Tic-Tac-Toe

This week we're playing a crafty holiday version of Tic-Tac-Toe at Jingle Belles... and we hope you'll come play along with us. Just choose three consecutive squares, in a row, a column or a diagonal, and incorporate those elements into your holiday card design.

Here's how we played the game this week:

Stephanie says, "I did my Tic-Tac-Toe diagonal down from the top left - Designer Paper, Silver & Santa.  I used papers (and a Santa) from PhotoPlay Not a Creature Was Stirring Collection with some silver glitter paper.  The Sketch is from the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Challenge.  I did the sketch a bit wonky to give the feeling of Santa driving really fast to get all of those gifts delivered on time.  The tiny sentiment is vintage Stampin' Up."

Lauren says, "I chose the center column, which gave me SNOWFLAKES + SILVER + STAMPING. I've incorporated the SNOWFLAKES via a well-hoarded Hambly Transparency as my card base AND with some Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Brads. The SILVER metallic cardstock mat and silver and white washi tape I used look a bit taupe in the photo, but they really are silver, I promise! For STAMPING I chose my favorite Wendy Vecchi poinsettias from Ranger's Doodle Christmas stamp set, which I stamped in Red Geranium Archival, then painted (using a waterbrush filled with rubbing alcohol) in Carnation Red and Fern Green."

Link your Tic-Tac-Toe creations right here by 6pm (Eastern) on Wednesday, May 17th. Keyword for galleries and Flickr is JB2310.

Magical Holiday Leftovers

Who knew that leftover stickers, patterned paper scraps, half doilies and the end of the sequin jar could be so inspiring? Our fellow Jingle Belles, that's who! Here are three clever and inspiring cards that especially caught our eye:

...went "dotty" for the perfect paper scraps to piece the (stretchy) pj's of her trio of ladies we're pretty sure we'd be instant friends with, irl!

...combined multiple scraps, leftovers and part of a (beautiful) tissue box, while at the same time cleverly combining multiple card challenges!

...used this challenge as incentive to raid her holiday "UFO" box (aka UnFinished Objects) and used the results to create not one or two but four (4!) glorious square cards!

♥♥♥

Many thanks to everyone who played along, we loved seeing ALL of your cards and hope you had as much fun as we did! We'll be back at Midnight with a brand new prompt... let the games begin then!
